What is wind energy? Wind energy is the conversion of wind into something more useful, like electricity, water pumping, or mechanical functions.
Wind energy is simple to understand. When wind moves, it is showing that it has energy. If the wind did not have energy, it would not move. Evidence of the energy of wind is seen when the wind moves something from one place to another. When the wind moves a wind turbine, that’s when energy is created. Depending on the wind power of the day, this energy might be a lot or it might be a little. However, any energy produced helps to offset the use of other forms of nonrenewable energy, which is seen as a main benefit of wind energy.
One of the most common images of wind power in history is the use of windmills. When the wind moves the mill, the mill begins to rotate, causing water to spill in the building, which can then create electricity. Of course, this movement of water also helps to move water from one place to another, so the effect is multi-purpose in some societies.
Mechanical Functions and Applications
The actual movement of wind also helps to power sailboats and to pump water for drainage. As the wind blows, the machine will then move, causing whatever is in it to move as well. This can then be applied to many different facilities and tasks which need to be accomplished. However, windier locations are ideal when these functions need to be performed on a daily basis.
Wind energy allows for energy to be not only created, but also sent to places which need electricity, movement, and even water.
