The Structure of a Windmill
A windmill can be a highly complicated structure, as they often are now, or they can be as simple as they were back in older times. Once, windmills simply allowed water to be moved from one place to another, using the power of the wind. These days, windmills and wind turbines are used to help generation energy for the occupants of the area around the windmill. The blades of the windmill are attached to a tall structure, and then they move whenever the wind blows. This movement than turns the drive shaft in the windmill, causing the creation of electricity in addition to movement of water and other materials or not.

The use of windmills allows you to create electricity from a free and renewable source – the air. Windmills are primarily used in European countries but they are becoming more available in other continents as well. With the improved efficiency of wind turbines, the older models of windmills are not used as frequently. With the increased demand for energy which is readily available and cheap, windmills are becoming an attractive way to reduce the environmental impact of energy use.
