Going Green for Kids

It is never to early for kids to learn about going green. Not only will they be learning to live a green lifestyle from a young age but they will enjoy being a part of something that their parents are doing as well.

If your family recycles get your kids involved. Have your kids help you pick out different containers for different recyclable items. You can also help them to write recyclable item names on each of the containers. After have the containers, you can give your kids the duty of making sure items are sorted properly. Save containers at the end of you counter and have the kids sort them when they get home from school.

If you family has the room to plant a garden gardening a great way to go green while having fresh fruits and vegetables during the summer. Have your kids make a list of all their favorite fruits and vegetables. After they make the list have them think about which ones they would like to plant. Help them to plant the seeds and take care of them. This can be a great lesson for kids who like nature. When it is time to pick their fruits and vegetables make sure that you are including their harvest in meals so the kids know that their plants made a difference. It might even be fun to include the kids in preparing their fruits and vegetables.

You can also help your kids learn about saving energy by turning off the lights and making sure that they are turning off the water when they are brushing their teeth.
